Pro.Radio Alternatives: Modern Radio Website Platforms Compared
Disclosure: RadioSiteMaker is our own product, and so is RadioHost Studio. Method: prices checked on each vendor's own page on 5 November 2026; we list where competitors are the better fit.
Pro.Radio is a well-known WordPress theme for radio stations, with a large demo library and a long list of radio-specific Elementor widgets. It is a good theme. The reasons people look for alternatives are usually about WordPress rather than the theme: hosting, updates, plugin conflicts, and the feeling that running the website has become a second job.
This guide compares the realistic alternatives and says where Pro.Radio is still the better pick.
What Pro.Radio Costs
Pro.Radio is sold directly on pro.radio:
| Licence | Price |
|---|---|
| 1 website | $98[1] (lifetime licence, a year of support and updates included) |
| 3 websites | $196[2] |
| Support and updates renewal | $69[3] per year |
On top of that you pay for WordPress hosting and a domain. The .com registry fee alone is $10.97[4] a year before any registrar margin. Hosting prices vary too widely by provider to quote fairly; price the plan you would actually use.
Why People Look for Pro.Radio Alternatives
WordPress is more than you bargained for
Pro.Radio requires WordPress, which requires hosting, a database, PHP, SSL, and regular core, plugin and theme updates. For a station manager who wants a professional website and nothing else, that stack is a lot to own.
Plugin conflicts and breakage
Pro.Radio is built around Elementor and its own required plugins. Every WordPress core or Elementor update is a chance for something to change. This is not unique to Pro.Radio; it is how the WordPress plugin ecosystem works. But when your station site breaks, listeners notice.
The maintenance treadmill
Updates need testing. Backups need to be configured and checked. Spam and security alerts need watching. For a station with a web team, this is manageable. For a one-person station, it takes time away from radio. Our WordPress vs RadioSiteMaker comparison goes through it step by step.
What Pro.Radio Does Well
A large demo library. Plenty of visual starting points.
Radio-specific widgets. Schedule, now-playing, podcast players and DJ profiles were designed for stations.
Elementor. If you like visual page builders, you can rearrange almost anything without code.
Ownership. Your files and database live on your own hosting.
Alternative 1: RadioSiteMaker — Purpose-Built, Fully Managed
RadioSiteMaker provides the whole platform — website, hosting, CMS and radio features — as one managed service, instead of a theme you install.
How It Works
You sign up, go through a 10-step wizard (station name, tagline, theme, typography, stream URL, logo, sections, social links, contact details, preview) and publish. There is no WordPress, hosting or plugin to manage. 7-day free trial, no card.
What You Get
- Live player that keeps playing as listeners move between pages, with now-playing metadata read from Icecast, SHOUTcast, AzuraCast, Radio.co, RadioKing, Live365 and others (see integrations).
- Schedule grid, show pages and DJ profiles, managed in the dashboard.
- Podcasts, including import from an existing RSS feed.
- Blog, events, charts, recently played, dedications, polls and chat, plus song requests for stations on RadioHost Studio.
- Donation links to PayPal, Stripe, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon or GoFundMe.
- Videos, sponsors and merch sections when you need them.
- 10 themes, 17 site languages, custom domain with SSL.
What It Costs
$99 a year + tax, with 10 GB of storage. If you need more, storage add-ons run from +10 GB for $29 a year up to +100 GB for $179 a year. Your domain is separate.
Who It Is Best For
Independent, community, college and internet-only stations that want a professional site without managing WordPress.
Alternative 2: Wix or Squarespace — Generic Website Builders
Both handle hosting and offer polished visual editors and templates. Check current prices on Wix and Squarespace; we have not verified them for this guide.
What Does Not Work for Radio
- No native live player. You embed one with custom HTML, and it usually restarts when the listener clicks to another page.
- No show schedule or structured DJ profiles. You build these as ordinary pages.
- No charts, dedications or other radio features.
What Does
- Ease of use and good templates.
- Squarespace podcasts. Squarespace supports podcasts natively (Supported (blog page + audio block + built-in RSS feed)[5]), with audio blocks up to 160 MB[6] and feeds up to 300 episodes[7].
Who It Is Best For
Stations that need a brochure site rather than a listening destination.
Alternative 3: Your Stream Host's Website
If you stream with Radio.co or RadioKing, both sell websites. Radio.co's Website Builder is $12[8] a month (Powered by Weebly; two builder plans: Standard and Plus[9]). RadioKing's Radio Website is $468 / 408€ / £348[10] a year and includes Player bar on all pages; podcasts module; show grid (Shows & Hosts); 'What's this track?'; multiple admins; 100 GB monthly traffic; 5 GB storage; external streams allowed[11]. Both are reasonable if you plan to stay with that host; compare them in our website builders roundup.
Alternative 4: Custom Development
A developer builds exactly what you specify, with any integration you need. Price depends on scope; get written quotes that include yearly maintenance. Expect weeks to months before launch, and a dependency on that developer afterwards. See the website cost guide for how to compare quotes.

Who Should Choose What
Choose Pro.Radio if you are comfortable with WordPress, have hosting you are happy with, want Elementor-level layout control, and accept the maintenance. The pain points are WordPress, not the theme.
Choose RadioSiteMaker if you want a radio station site without running WordPress, with the radio pages already built and one annual price.
Choose Wix or Squarespace if the site is mainly a brochure and the live player is not central.
Choose your stream host's website if you will stay on that host and its feature list covers you.
Choose custom development if you have budget, unique requirements and a developer you trust.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Pro.Radio cost?
$98 for a single-site licence including a year of support and updates, $196 for three sites, and $69 a year to renew support, all from pro.radio. Hosting and the domain are extra.
Can I migrate my existing Pro.Radio content to RadioSiteMaker?
Yes, by hand: there is no automatic import tool for WordPress. Blog posts, DJ bios, show descriptions and events are copied into the dashboard; podcast episodes can be imported from your existing RSS feed; images upload directly, and episode audio is linked from wherever it is hosted (a direct audio URL, SoundCloud or Spotify).
Is $99 per year really the total cost with RadioSiteMaker?
The plan is $99 a year + tax and includes hosting, SSL, every feature and updates. Two things can add to it: your domain registration, and storage add-ons if you go past the included 10 GB.
Do I lose design flexibility by not using WordPress and Elementor?
Yes, some. With Elementor you can place any element anywhere. With RadioSiteMaker you choose a theme, colours, fonts, layouts and which sections appear. If pixel-level layout control is your top priority, Pro.Radio may still suit you better.
How does the live player compare between Pro.Radio and RadioSiteMaker?
Both offer a live player with now-playing metadata. On WordPress, whether audio keeps playing between pages depends on the theme's page-loading setup and your plugins. On RadioSiteMaker the player is part of the platform and keeps playing across pages; you paste your stream URL and it works.
